My Creative Process

The Design Thinking process is a human-centered approach to innovation and problem-solving that can be applied to various fields and industries. 

It comprises five stages:

Empathize:

  • Focuses on understanding the users’ needs, challenges, and expectations.
  • Involves observing and engaging with real users through interviews, observations, and interaction with existing products.
  • Aims to set aside assumptions and gain first-hand insights into users’ experiences and behaviors.

Define:

  • Involves synthesizing the findings from the empathize phase to identify common themes and patterns.
  • Formulates a problem statement, also known as a point of view (POV) statement, which outlines the user problem to be addressed.
  • Keeps the user perspective in focus rather than framing the problem statement solely as a business goal.
  •  

Ideate:

  • Focuses on generating a wide range of creative ideas and solutions in response to the defined problem statement.
  • Encourages a judgment-free environment where participants explore unconventional angles and think outside the box.
  • Involves ideation sessions aimed at producing as many ideas as possible, which will later be narrowed down for prototyping.
  •  

Prototype:

  • Involves turning the selected ideas from the ideation phase into tangible prototypes.
  • Prototypes can range from simple paper models to more interactive digital representations.
  • Aims to create something tangible for testing with real users to gather feedback and refine the designs.
  •  

Test:

  • Involves putting the prototypes in front of real users and observing their interactions.
  • Gathers feedback on user experiences and identifies any design flaws or areas for improvement.
  • Supports an iterative and non-linear approach, where insights from testing may lead to revisiting previous stages of the process.
